Japan 2011 Day 10 - Hiroshima & Tokyo
with use of SK’s photos :)
Day 10 - With the shinkansen to Tokyo at 7:15, we needed to get to the Hiroshima station before that since shinkansens leave on the dot and are very ontime. The problem was we needed to catch a streetcar from our hotel, and that took at least 20-25min coz of its massive slowness. We then woke up at 5:45am to try and leave the hotel by 6:15am and catch the next...

Japan 2011 Day 9 - Hiroshima
Day 9 - we started off really early since we added a tour of the Mazda museum to our itinerary when it wasn’t originally there. We found free wifi near the station, so used it before we headed towards the museum.
We had to take a streetcar to Hiroshima station and a JR train to Mukainada where the Mazda museum is at. But wow the streetcar is slow.

Japan 2011 Day 8 – Osaka & Hiroshima
Day 8 - We left our hotel late enough to allow time for rest and packing after staying 3 nights in Osaka, but unfortunately since we had to swap trains 2 times (JR-Namba to Imamiya to Osaka to Shin-Osaka) to get on our scheduled 10:59 Shinkansen to Hiroshima, we just missed our Shinkansen, which meant that we had to wait for the next Shinkansen. That is probably an fml moment in this trip.

Japan 2011 Day 7 – Osaka incl Nara
Day 7 - after “clubbing”, we allowed ourselves a “late” start to the day and woke up at around 9. We also found that MZ in his mission to get his money’s worth from drinking last night had failed and vomited last night. Luckily, into the toilet bowl and nothing else.
Nara and deer here we come. We managed to make our way to the JR-Namba station at 10:30 and then we...

Japan 2011 Day 6 - Osaka
Day 6 - we started off the morning with some breakfast - this is quite unusual since we haven’t had that much breakfast so far.
We went downstairs to the bakery and I got some freshly baked bread :) SK volunteered to be awesome and chose bread for all of us – and ahhhh soo good. After breakfast, we made our way to Osaka Aquarium!
osaka aquarium - AL’s thing!

Japan 2011 Day 5 - Kyoto & Osaka
Day 5 - We actually woke up on time, and packed since we were gonna check out and leave our bags at concierge. Today’s itinerary involves Kyoto’s Golden Temple “Kinkaku-ji” and some markets.
We headed to the bus stop, and just in time for all the school kids catching the bus too.

Japan 2011 Day 4 - Hakone & Kyoto
Day 4 - Waking up was an issue again. AL’s alarm was set at 6am but it didn’t go off coz his iPhone was set to some daylight saving bullsh1t - which just meant that it didn’t go off when we wanted it to. Body clock saved us as I woke up at 6:30am without an alarm lols. body clock win. who knew clerkship start times would help you on a travel trip =P
Everyone except MZ decided to...

Japan 2011 Day 3 - Tokyo & Hakone
Day 3 - wooo woke up a bit later than a holiday would normally force you to. 8am, and a walk to Shinjuku station with our luggage. Walked towards the station slightly after peak hour which meant that these train stations were amazingly packed. We saw that people lined up for the trains in two lines each train entrance, and it was soooo systematic, unlike cityrail.
took a photo from max’s...

Japan 2011 Day 2 - Tokyo
Day 2 - day started off with a fail. We were meant to wake up to leave by 6, but what happened was that since the incident last night, AL didn’t have his alarm set and MZ had his phone charged at the other side of the room, and we relied on my ipod touch for an alarm, which clearly failed because SK and JG came to our room at 5:58am, dressed and woke us up - lol. The itinerary for that day...

Japan 2011 Day 1 - Tokyo
Day 1 - we arrived at Narita Airport Tokyo, but we had to “wait just half an hour” (anyone who has seen the recent 30 Rock episode will get this reference) because the Singapore Airline A380 we were on could not navigate the ice on the airport runway and did not have enough power to pull itself to a gate. So there we were, just waiting anxiously to step foot in Tokyo! And no – it...
