Europe 2011/12 - Day 3 - Düsseldorf & Dortmund

the plan today is to explore Düsseldorf. yay christmas markets!

came a bit too early - still closed. At least I had photo ops to myself

walk along the rhine river. the sun was out for once!

Schlossturm Schiffahrt Museum - a shipping navigation museum located at a lighthouse along the Rhine. This was when i soaked a bit of the city’s history and culture :)

then I decided just to walk around Allstadt… and the things you find. LIKE HOW MUCH POMMES FRITES THERE IS HERE. EPIC.

more christmas markets. they sell ranging from authentic local food, to mulled wine, to christmas souvenirs and stuff

königsallee - one of the main shopping streets. i managed to get a photo when it was still dry - the arvo was raining like no tmrw lols.

Lunch? Reibekuchen with applesauce. Its like hash browns with apple sauce. Really awesome for a cold day cause its super hot!

mediahafen, düsseldorf. the harbour side, it has all the fashion and design buildings. and its has attractive and rather interesting buildings and architecture, evident from the next few photos

self-timer can be helpful

greek-esque buildings with the TV tower in the background

overview of mediahafen

teehee colourful ‘people’ climbing the building

After a day of walking around town, I got ready to head towards Dortmund to catch a Champions League match - Dortmund v Marseille at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund. It was a one hour train ride, included in the ticket price as well!

dortmund!

stopped by a super massive christmas tree in Dortmund which also has their own christmas markets! That makes my count to four different cities’ christmas markets! Got currywurst for dinner - didnt take a photo coz we were eating in the rain AND rushing to get to the stadium

axel @ signal iduna park!

my ticket

dortmund penalty!

lol away fans felt the need for flares

and Dortmund actually has a Japanese player - Shinji Kagawa. All the germans thought I was watching the match just to see him, every single time I got a pat on the shoulder it was “Kagawa?” followed by a head nod. and sadly - they lost 2-3 and got eliminated. Ah well. Time to get moving and get home cause I have an early flight to London town tmrw morning!
