so our overnight train was delayed by 60 minutes. We both thought we overslept and missed Berlin, even though we were up 30min prior to supposed arrival in Berlin. turns out it was simply late in its travels by 60 minutes despite departing on time. but not to worry. Berlin!

hi berlin!

our first sighting of Berlin streets

there was this snow mound at Potsdamer Platz. kids could get on like inflated things and slide down. pretty cool

at the site of where the Berlin Wall was at Potsdamer Platz. I must say, the artwork is cool

where it used to be!

the Holocaust Memorial ‘maze’. as the name suggests - its a memorial. really impressive and big - CS and I sorta took a while to find each other after we parted

clearly we spent a bit of time here - it was just cool. the terrain was not flat, not were the heights of the blocks in the middle
then afterwards we walked about 100m to Brandenburger Tor - the well known city gate of Berlin

such a touristy place!

see anything odd? if u need help, check the right of the photo. why?!?! damn pop culture sometimes
after this, we walked towards the Reichstag

German govt buildings
after checking out the government stuff, CS and I walked down Unter Den Linden, a rather well-known street of Berlin. CS wanted to check out the Guggenheim museum, supposedly an art museum

the main (and only) exhibition were these sculptures made out of steel and white cement i believe. but that was it. glad that this was free (it was Monday) and hence I didnt pay a dime to see what was a thoroughly disappointing exhibition

the nearby christmas markets!

then we saw the Berliner Dom

which is located at lustgarten. had to giggle lol

went inside, and made sure i lit a candle :)

majestic interior
then we went up 200+ steps to the top of the dom

view from the top of berliner dom
then we walked across the road to atles museum - a lot of ancient greek stuff

atles museum. not the best, but some pretty good greek exhibits. of course, not to the coolness scale of the British Museum
then it was off to dinner for us

we went to rosa luxemborg platz, and found this nifty bar that does dinner. looked pretty good - and we also got a dozen beers for only 13 euro. so we ordered it - and initially we thought it was going to be taster sizes. no, they were slightly proper sizes..

we finished it though. CS had 7, and i had 5. i ordered soup as well though - which might not have been the best idea in terms of bloated ness, but at least it was warm!

then we went for more drinks - found this place with 1euro jager shots and 2for1 deals on spirits and beer lol…

and we just kept on going, evident by CS bringing his beer bottle home on the U-Bahn home.
wow it has been a long first day in Berlin, with all the big ticket sightseeing stuff conquered and a good night out!
