Europe 2011/12 - Day 21 - Rome

i have JG all to myself today! so we decided to walk around Rome and do all the big ticket items!

Its Christmas Eve!

JG with St Peter’s Basilica

JG at Castle of St Angelo.

then we walked towards the Pantheon for the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. i felt i was in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood!

the view from the inside of the Pantheon

After that, we decided to talk around to find some nice Piazzas and markets around Rome

the famous Piazza Navona, complete with markets and stuff

GIANT XMAS TREE SNOWGLOBE! this was at Galleria Alberto Sordi, which just seemed to be a normal street with a ceiling. very much a QVB feel!

Galleria Alberto Sordi

then it was towards the infamous Trevi Fountain! we threw a few coins in there!

also had pizza and gelato next to the fountain yumss

we were quite hungry, so we decided to get some more pizza and eat it at the Spanish steps! sadly it was wet so we didnt sit on the steps, but walked up the steps instead

immediately down the Spanish steps is Via dei Condotti, the street where all the branded stuff are. we took a peek at a few stops, but sadly bought nothing

Piazza del Popolo, which used to be Rome’s main entrance back in the day. As you can see it rained like crazy, JG and I were a bit soaked :(

then it was time for some more food! DInner that is. JG and I went to the place last night since it was Xmas eve, and Amalfi’s did not disappoint with yummy Pizza!

pizza yummm

then we had some time to burn before catching the xmas eve mass at the outside of St Peter’s at 10pm (we didnt have tickets), so we just decided to catch the Trevi Fountain once more, this time at night. it was a sight to see!

then it was time to catch the papal xmas eve mass. some parts it was raining, and someone noob at the front decided to open his umbrella. yeah, considerate much?

Its Christmas tmrw!
